Hi, I’m A.E. Brennan! I hail from the great state of Texas, where I live with my husband, twins, and a small legion of pets named after various pop culture icons. I earned a bachelor’s degree in music before turning my creative focus to fiction. Though I left the stage behind, I never abandoned the pursuit of resonance. I simply shifted from performance to prose.
I write character-driven queer fiction for adult readers, sometimes with speculative elements. My stories often follow protagonists who serve as their own antagonists, confronting a vital flaw that ultimately transforms both their lives and the world around them. Romance (of course!) plays a meaningful role, serving as a lens for character growth.
When I’m not writing, I’m usually knitting, crocheting, or curled up with a great book. Some longtime favorites include The Princess Bride by William Goldman and Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones.
